Goodbye November
I’ve posted something here (almost) every day in November, partly because of pressure from multiple parties to share more photos from my time here in China, and partly as something to put on my Streak.ly list. Streak.ly is a very simple service ran by Kyle Bragger of Forrst fame, Zack Kitzmiller, and a handful of other talented folks. Here’s how it works:
- You add things that you want to do every day to your list.
- Every day you get a reminder email to do those things.
- Every day you do those things, log in, and mark them as done.
- The app tracks your streaks - how many days in a row you’ve completed each item.
That’s it. Well, you can cheer other people on and a few other small features, but this is the gist. It sounds almost dumb how simple it is, but it’s just the right amount of push for me to do something like post a photo every day. If this sounds like something for you, I suggest checking it out.
This whole last month I’ve also been slowly and silently rolling out a new version of http://imakewebthings.com, one that will actually allow me to show a few pieces of work, write down the occasional thought, and convince random strangers that I have something resembling a “real” job, be it one that can be done from the comfort of ones underwear. Look around and feel free to opine through one of the contact links on the front page.
I’m returning to my usual post frequency (infrequent!) here, now that November is gone, and look forward to focusing on some of those “work” things. In the meantime: Here’s a picture of a baby duck.
