Yard
Ok, this is the last in my current set of fake HDR photos I’ll be posting. This one is of a typical yard full of houses in an older part of Xuchang. Lao Lao owns one of the houses, but it sits empty, as she also owns a nicer house across town.
The government is currently in the middle of taking over this yard to tear it down and build something new. When the government takes over your house in China it usually comes with a combination of money and/or a new house elsewhere. And it’s almost always an upgrade. As with practically every other exchange of goods, bargaining occurs, and Lao Lao is trying to negotiate as much as she can out of the deal.
